This course is an introduction to econometric techniques widely used by economists. The weekly lab sections are required; labs explore issues relating to the nature and sources of economics data and introduce appropriate statistical computing tools. This class will meet three times each week: twice with an economics professor, and once with a Quantitative Analysis Center (QAC) instructor. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Following a learning-by-doing approach, the course's lab sessions introduce students to statistical computing. Through a series of hands-on exercises, we learn to work with a variety of data formats and use the programming capabilities of our statistical analysis software (e.g. Stata) to effectively manage and analyze data. In addition to completion of Econ 110, there is a probability and statistics prerequisite for this course. This probability and statistics prerequisite can be fulfilled by completing ECON 103, MATH 132, or PSYC 200. It can also be fulfilled by receiving a score of 4 or 5 in AP Statistics, by receiving a 5, 6, or 7 on the IB Higher Math test. |
