This intermediate language course places continued emphasis on the development of reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills within a strong cultural framework. The sequence SPAN111 and SPAN112 seeks to expand students' active and passive control of vocabulary and grammar and for students to gain experience in using formal and informal registers of Spanish. Note that Span 101 and Span 102 are designed as a year-long course, with each course covering half of the textbook, along with other materials. Completion of Span 112, or evidence of appropriate level, will be required to continue onto Advanced Spanish - Introduction to Hispanic Literatures (Span 221). |

MÁS 4th ed. (Pérez-Gironés & Adán-Lifante) and its online workbook CONNECT. Purchase of CONNECT includes e-book. Most economical access via "Inclusive Access" program using link in class Moodle. Same materials for SPAN 112 (continuation of 111).

Examinations and Assignments:
This class meets with instructor 3 times a week, plus once a week with a TA (to be scheduled). Frequent written and oral assignments and evaluation. Daily attendance to class required and participation in the target language is expected. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
This course is designed for students who have completed SPAN 102 or 103, or have placed into SPAN 110 /111 through the Wesleyan Online Placement test this fall, or have a recent AP exam score of 3. (SPAN 111 is not the continuation of SPAN 110¿they are at similar level.) Note that SPAN 111 and SPAN 112 are designed as a year-long course. Completion of SPAN 112, or evidence of appropriate level, will be required to continue to SPAN 221. |
