Empirical Methods for Political Science

This course is an introduction to the core methods used in the study of political phenomena. We will cover topics in theory building and hypothesis generation, research design and operationalization, and data collection and analysis. Throughout the course, there is a significant emphasis on practical application and familiarization with statistical software. Students will come away from this course with a robust set of skills to conduct original research. You will also become more critical consumers of arguments made in mass and social media, academia, and political debates.
