Intermediate Nonfiction Workshop
ENGL 325
Fall 2025
| Section:
01
|
This course may be repeated for credit. |
This workshop is designed for experienced writers looking to deepen their practice in narrative nonfiction. Students will explore a range of forms -- including memoir, criticism, interviews, travel writing, and autofiction -- while engaging with core elements such as plot, structure, character, and place. Together, we¿ll grapple with questions like: How do we write about the self in conversation with broader social and political realities? How can we depict others with both acuity and empathy? And how might we write about art and literature in ways that are both intellectually rigorous and emotionally resonant? The course will include local field trips and visits to author readings. By semester's end, students will have crafted and refined several original works of nonfiction and developed greater confidence as both writers and editors. |
