Approximately one third of all proteins are metalloproteins. This course covers how metal ions and cofactors are employed by biological systems, with a focus on metalloproteins and enzymes. Students will learn how metals interact with macromolecules and modern experimental methods used to study the structural, chemical, and physical properties of metalloproteins. Current literature from the field of bioinorganic chemistry will be discussed. |
