This course provides an in-depth examination of contemporary European security challenges, with a particular focus on the European Union's evolving security and defense policy and its relationship with Russia. Students will explore the EU's institutional responses to crises, its strategic autonomy, and the dynamics of transatlantic security cooperation. The course also analyzes Russia's role as both a neighbor and strategic challenger, including its military interventions, hybrid tactics, and influence in the region. Through case studies, policy analysis, and simulations, students will critically assess the effectiveness of European security mechanisms in responding to conventional and non-conventional threats.
