This course will look at the cultural and historical background of Gospel Music, tracing it back to the pre-slavery era, and working our way up until the gospel music of today. This course is for students who are interested in why gospel music is such a universally beloved genre and tradition. While the course will focus on the formation of Gospel music, a diversity of other African American musical genres will be covered in this course. |
