Introduction to Drafting for Theater

This course provides an introduction to drafting as a means for communicating design ideas for theater. Students will explore the basic principles of hand drafting before transitioning to 2D and 3D CAD modeling via Vectorworks. Students will become familiar with theater industry drafting standards and will learn to use technical drawings as a way to understand space, volume and scale. Assignments will be largely project-based, and students will share and discuss their work in class. For Theater Majors, this course counts towards the Technical Practice requirement.
